Description

Tatebanko is the forgotten Japanese art of creating amazing dioramas and scenic perspective from paper. This simple and beautiful Japanese art has now been revived and reinterpreted for our times. Hokusai (1760 – 1849) is one of the most renowned Ukiyo-e painters of the Edo period in Japan.

The world famous “The Great Wave” is a piece of artwork from “36 Scenes of Mt.Fuji”. Hokusai himself did “Tatebanko paper sculpture” in those days and we are celebrating this well-known masterpiece with our own interpretation. This cardboard DIY diorama kit allows you to recreate “The Great Wave”.

For ages 12+. Takes 2-3 hours to make. Made in Japan. Product size: Built diorama: 18.5 x 12.4 x 9cm Material: Cardboard
